Pepper’s Photo Shoot!

Pepper’s Photo Shoot!

Pepper is a Percheron mare, about 17 years old.

She is so gentle! Great for walk/trot/canter in horse back riding lessons. And yet, when Pepper first came to Heartland we weren’t even sure if she would fit in. She has surprised us all!!

Pepper’s surprise talent? She has been the star in a number of photo shoots for wedding/engagement pictures! You can put an inexperienced person on her back and she is only too happy to cooperate. Below are pictures of her from a photo shoot taken for a student portfolio… the model riding Pepper was new to horses, but the two got along right away!

A Heartland Happy Halloween… Event Hightlights and Thank-yous!

To all our Heartland family and friends, Happy Halloween 2011!!

See photo highlights of our celebration and fundraising event for the Feed the Need in Durham organization.

Our 2nd annual Halloween party was a rousing success, due in part to the fantastic commitment, attendance and contribution of our ever-widening circle of family, friends, volunteers and unsung supporters.

The tremendous audience attendance at this year’s afternoon event (estimated at 200+) took part in a wide variety of exciting activities including rider and horse costume parade, pumpkin carving, pizza party, hayloft playcorner, barn dance, Halloween Candy Bar, Giant Pumpkin “Guess the Weight” Contest, etc. Attendees were asked to bring donations of cash and non-perishable food items for Feed the Need in Durham. Thank you to all who supported this fundraising drive.

Special thanks go out to Darren Brown our “Garth Brooks” entertainer!! And to our numerous event supporters and donors including Whitby Boston Pizza, Linton Farm Market, Tim Hortons – Brooklin, Walmart – Port Perry, Steve Snider, our superb staff: Kerston, Debbie (aka Tod), Jess, our wonderful volunteer student group, the tremendously supportive parents of our riding students, and ALL of our Heartland family friends!

Best of Heartland Hallow'en 2011
